A service area of the Instructional Technology Center. |
| We
can design and facilitate the production of any printed materials, from
a simple announcement or certificate to a full-color brochure or poster.
We will work with you on a project from the idea stages to the finished
product. You will be responsible for providing a text file.
After deciding on quantity, number of ink colors, paper stock, etcetera, we can request bids from off-campus vendors. (We will need a department account number.) Our pre-press preparation time depends upon the complexity of the job, and our workload at the time. After you have approved the design and proofed the content, we will work as a liaison with the printer, or you may choose to deal with them directly. They usually require a minimum of two weeks for offset printing. Duplication (Xerox) jobs can be handled through Duplicating Services on campus. It is useful to go to them for duplication (as opposed to the copy room) when there are special needs such as folding, cutting, padding, special paper, etcetera. These jobs are quicker and less costly than offset printing, but do have some limitations. |
| We can shoot digital or conventional (film) photographs for your print or web needs. We also have a collection of education-related "stock" photos from which to choose. |
| We can design and produce logos for special projects or organizations. We can also create original illustrations for your specific needs, or you can browse our libraries of copyright-free clip "art" covering a variety of subjects. |
| The length of time required for a specific job is dependent upon its complexity and our current work load. Jobs that require offset printing are sent to off-campus vendors who usually require a two week minimum turn-around (after completion in our office). For all College of Education departments, we provide our services free of charge. Costs for materials or work done off-campus will be billed directly to your department or unit, so you will need to provide an account number. |
| We can design and construct webpages, or graphic elements for existing pages. (See "Examples".) To facilitate production, we will need a hardcopy chart clearly indicating all of the links, and a file containing all of the text. In addition to design considerations, consultation is necessary to assure that webpages comply with the guidelines stated in the college's web policy. Each page on the college's site also needs a designated "Point of Contact" (selected by the department chair) to assure that the page content is accurate and is kept up-to-date. |
| We can design and assemble PowerPoint presentations, tabletop displays, or poster presentations. Faculty can have LARGE (3' x 4.5') research presentations printed at the SSTARS center in King Library. We can show you how to assemble your material. |
| We can
output: - color laser prints on paper or transparencies - color inkjet on a 24" roll (by whatever length) - black laser prints (600 dpi) on paper (white, color, or specialty paper) or transparencies - large (3' x 4.5') research presentations can be printed for Faculty at the SSTARS center in King Library. |
